Complaints specific to Health Professionals on the Blue Knot Helpline Referral Database

Blue Knot Foundation maintains a database of Health Professionals. Our Helpline counsellors utilise this database to provide a choice of Health Professionals to service users who request this, generally identified according to geographic location.

Health Professionals must apply to be listed on the database. Applicants are listed on the database if they meet the criteria of being registered with a relevant professional association, demonstrate knowledge and experience working in a trauma-informed way with adult survivors of complex childhood trauma, and this experience is confirmed by two professional referees. Blue Knot Foundation does not otherwise accredit or endorse any health practitioner on the database.

If a service user has an unsatisfactory experience with a Health Professional whose contact details was provided to them by a Blue Knot Helpline counsellor, they can convey concern about their experience to Blue Knot Foundation as outlined in the Complaint about a Health Professional on the Helpline Referral Database policy. This policy summarises the complaints review process. It is recommended that you read this policy before you lodge a complaint. It is also recommended that you read this policy if you are a Health Professional against whom a complaint has been made.

To make a complaint please complete the online form below with as much detail as possible. This information will be considered as outlined in the above mentioned policy. You will receive written acknowledgement of receipt of your complaint within five (5) working days. You will then be contacted to discuss the complaint. The process which is being followed to assess the complaint will also be explained. Your complaint will be stored in a file which has restricted access to ensure matters are dealt with in a sensitive manner.

Blue Knot Foundation aims to assess and action all complaints within twenty (20) working days of receiving the complaint. If this timeframe cannot be met, you will be informed of the reasons why and of the alternative timeframe.

Blue Knot Foundation understands that the subject of complaints may be sensitive in nature and we respect your right to confidentiality wherever possible.

The policy includes a consent form for exchange of confidential information with the Health Professional who is the subject of the complaint. If you provide consent for Blue Knot Foundation to contact the Health Professional, this will enable us to discuss your complaint with the subject of the complaint in order to give them an opportunity to respond. Providing consent for this purpose is optional, depending on what you would like to happen regarding your complaint. Please refer to the above mentioned policy for more information about this.
