This fact sheet for health professionals working with adult survivors of complex trauma (childhood trauma and abuse).

It highlights the prevalence, impacts, stakes and treatment approaches of complex trauma as compared to those relating to single incident trauma.

It connects adverse childhood experiences to its many health and psychosocial consequences, noting the physiological responses to stress and coping strategies with which survivors can present.

It also provides the research evidence base around the neurobiology of attachment which attests to possibilities for recovery within healthy therapeutic and personal relationships.
