Trauma-Informed Clinical Supervision Seminar
This professional development seminar is for supervisors of diverse health professionals working with complex trauma clients. Just as effective therapy for people who have experienced complex trauma requires adaptation of familiar therapeutic interventions, the same applies to their supervisors.
By attending this half-day professional development seminar, participants will better understand the limits of ‘standard’ therapeutic modalities. They will also acquire the core principles of trauma-informed clinical supervision and the requisite knowledge and skill base for supervising complex trauma therapeutic practice.
This seminar equips supervisors to provide trauma-informed clinical supervision to meet the special needs of practitioners working with the myriad of challenges posed by complex trauma-related presentations.
By participating in this professional development seminars, attendees will:
- Define the value of trauma-informed clinical supervision and how it differs from traditional models of supervisory practice
- Apply trauma- informed principles and an understanding of the limits of ‘standard’ counselling and psychotherapeutic modalities to supervisory and therapeutic practice
- Acquire tools to implement enhanced understanding around complex trauma, its dynamics, neurobiological impacts and ‘adaptive coping strategies’
- Explore the skills needed to become a trauma-informed supervisor
Material presented in the training will draw on research from Blue Knot Foundation's Practice Guidelines for Treatment of Complex Trauma and Trauma Informed Care and Service Delivery www.blueknot.org.au/guidelines and other relevant research.
