My Story by Michelle

“For 45 years I always (as well as others) dumped the reason for my challenges under the issue of 'childhood abandonment'. However when I started creating pieces of writing and poetry I unknowingly disclosed many signs of multiple traumas and some of the pieces started to come together. At the age of 55, I attended one of the Blue Knot Foundation educational survivor workshops (on the persistent encouragement from a wise long-term friend). I started to gain some insight into my challenges, and myself, and also some awareness about memory and trauma.
Whilst getting to know a new friend in my life, I mentioned that I had been to a Blue Knot Foundation workshop, and explained what the workshop was about. My friend said she would be interested as well and ‘the penny dropped’ for both of us. Our connection then progressed with new insight, appreciation, strength and courage. So Blue Knot Foundation influenced our friendship in a highly significant way.
Many thanks to the organisation for raising and supporting these important issues. I have gained new courage to progressively share your newsletter with my family, friends, healthcare providers and other interested and caring people. This helps to increase acknowledgment and support for survivors across all age groups and encourages further learning about the very long term and damaging effects childhood traumas can have on individuals throughout a lifetime: As the memory may be absent but behaviour and effects run rampant."

My Story by Michelle - A Moment To ShineOut of the blue two resilient survivors meet briefly by chance.
Not realising their young ones were doing a merry dance.
Generating much laughter with stirring at the centre.
The big ones left scrambling to control any misadventure.
Building a friendship online and other distant means.
Encompasses the best of cryptic messages, reactions and scenes.
A challenge for sure taken by those with strongest of wills
And life journeys of hauling heavy opaque barrows uphill.
What learning, understanding or healing may be in store.
As creativity to meet, share, give and receive is tested to the core.
A question emerges – ‘A dream in part or reality of the heart’.
Could it be a new horizon, a new memory,
A layer peeled back from the real but forgotten past.
All are trying their best to move forwards in time
Holding tightly to a truth that each soul is worthy of a moment to shine.
