Cardinal George Pell was last year convicted of sexually abusing two choirboys in 1996, but the Victorian County Court has not allowed media outlets to report the verdict before now.

Dr. Cathy Kezelman, mental health consumer advocate and President of the Blue Knot Foundation National Centre of Excellence for Complex Trauma, explains how survivors might be feeling as a result, and how to help them cope.

The Blue Knot Foundation runs a helpline for adult survivors of child sexual abuse - 1300 657 380, available 9am to 5pm EST.

Other places to find support at this time are 1800 Respect - 1800 737 732 and Lifeline on 13 11 14.
