Family, Friends, Partners and Loved Ones Fact Sheet

This fact sheet has been written for people who are supporting their family member, friend, partner or loved one on their recovery journey from child abuse or trauma.

It provides a sound evidence base to enhance insight and understanding into the challenges, coping strategies and issues survivors and those supporting them can face.

At the same time it introduces the principles of being trauma informed: safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, empowerment, and shows how adopting those principles can help support healthy healing relationships.

It shows the importance of hope, self-care for both survivors and those who support them, and the very real possibilities of recovery for all.
