“Working clinically with adult survivors of complex trauma” is a short video for health professionals. It features the lived experience of survivors and presents the evidence base and practice experience of academics and clinicians. Accordingly it highlights the differences between complex trauma and single incident trauma in causality, dynamics and treatment responses.
In introducing issues around the brain, the stress response and attachment theory it seeks to assist health practitioners in their understanding of and working with complex trauma clients.
The video highlights the critical importance of an enhanced knowledge and skill base particular to the needs of complex trauma clients, and the building of a healthy therapeutic relationship to improve outcomes for adult survivors of childhood trauma and abuse.
