Speaking Engagements

Blue Knot Foundation is a nationally and internationally recognised thought leader in the areas of complex trauma and trauma informed policy and practice.

Its 2012 Practice Guidelines for Treatment of Complex Trauma and Trauma Informed Care and Service Delivery have set the standards for both clinical and organisational practice. Its 2015 report The Cost of Unresolved Childhood Trauma and Abuse in Adults in Australia continues to ignite the policy debate.

Blue Knot Foundation has played a key role in supporting the work of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and has representation of diverse government, non-government and other committees.

We attend and speak at a number of key conferences and symposiums every year around Australia. Please see below for where Blue Knot Foundation has been and will be going this year.

Complex Trauma Twenty Years On: Lessons, Challenges and Opportunities
This bi-national conference, convened by Belmont Hospital and the Cannan Institute, in collaboration with the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Trauma Dissociation Unit (TDU), Belmont Hospital. It uniquely brings together leading clinicians, researchers and writers from the Australian and New Zealand complex trauma/dissociative disorders field.

Family Law Pathways Network Conference

BRISBANE | 26-29 July 2017

National Suicide Prevention Conference 
Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA) is holding the annual National Suicide Prevention Conference in Brisbane in July for practitioners working in and supported by suicide prevention programs. The conference provides a platform for ensuring that those who are involved in service delivery are providing the best support possible to people at risk in our society. Dr Cathy Kezelman has submitted an abstract for this conference.

The MHS Conference 
Dr Cathy Kezelman has submitted an abstract for The MHS Learning Network, who are holding their 27th conference entitled ‘Embracing Change Through Innovation and Lived Experience’ in Sydney for three days over August and September. The conference provides a platform for exploring change, growth and new models across mental health services in Australia and this year’s theme encourages new discussion surrounding how to build on the strengths that already exist in individual, family and community networks.

2017 ANZAP Conference
The Australia and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy presents its 30th Anniversary Annual Conference. The theme of this year’s conference is “ANZAP Today”, celebrating the development of the association and discussing the application of ANZAP’s therapeutic perspective in the community today.
