Blue Knot Day

Blue Knot Day 2017 featured an Australia-wide social media campaign to promote visibility of support and unity for adult survivors of childhood trauma. The Blue Knot Day 2017 theme of ‘Unite in Support of Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma’ acted as the backdrop for the ‘#unitebkd2017’ campaign, which was generously supported by Blue Knot Day sponsor, Shine Lawyers.

The campaign invited individuals, community groups and businesses to post an image on Facebook featuring the hashtag ‘#unitebkd2017’ throughout the month of October, to show support of adult survivors of childhood trauma. Each uploaded image automatically entered the Blue Knot Day 2017 Photography Competition, which featured a cash prize of $500!

Congratulations to Blue Knot Day 2017 Photography Competition winner, Liz Murray, who was awarded the $500 first prize for her emotive and powerful piece entitled Lilylake, a Self Portrait’.

The competition encouraged submissions relevant to the 2017 Blue Knot Day theme of ‘Unite in Support of Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma’; Creativity, and Focus on Survivor Recovery through Unity. Lilylake, a Self Portrait’ was selected by our independent panel of judges on this basis with their commentary: “This work shows a poetic response to the theme and is visually pleasing. We admire the subtle symbolism of how the leaves and foliage together create a striking image of a female face demonstrating the beauty and power of unity and togetherness.”

Congratulations to Liz and to everyone who submitted an entry this year, we were so impressed with the creativity and high quality of all submitted work.

Thank you so much to Blue Knot Day 2017 sponsors,  Shine Lawyers , for your commitment to this project and your support of the Blue Knot Day 2017 Photography Competition
